Filipe Luis surprised many fans by leaving Pedro, one of Flamengo’s key players, out of the squad against Sao Paulo. After the match, the coach blasted the striker and pointed out his “deplorable attitude”.
There was uproar in Brazil at Filipe Luis’ latest press conference, where the former Deportivo, Atletico and Chelsea player made it clear that he has no commitment to any player. In the return to the Brazilian League, where Flamengo defeated Sao Paulo 2-0, it was surprising that the coach left Pedro, one of the great scorers of the ‘Mengao’ in recent seasons, out of the squad.
After the match, the press questioned Filipe for his absence and the player from Jaragua do Sul did not bite his tongue. It was already evident from his absences and his lack of playing time, but the coach is disappointed with Pedro’s attitude, whom he pointed out directly: “What happened was that Pedro’s behaviour and attitude this week bordered on the deplorable. It was ridiculous.
“He has been training badly for a while, but this week he broke the training culture. What he did was disrespectful. This kind of behaviour can be contagious and that’s why we left him off the list. I hope he apologises to his team-mates,” Filipe Luis continued.
“I come here with an open heart. I tried to protect him for a long time, but he has to want to. My eyes tell me what I see in training. But then the GPS data shows that Pedro is last in everything. It’s his fault,” he said.
