Real Madrid lacked ‘desire’ in PSG humbling, says Militao after long-awaited return

Eder Militao, who returned to action after eight months out with a serious knee injury, said Real Madrid lacked ‘desire’ after losing 4-0 to PSG in the Club World Cup semi-finals.

Real Madrid ended their run in the 2025 Club World Cup after suffering a painful defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the tournament. The only good news for ‘Los Blancos’ was the returns of Eder Militao and Daniel Carvajal after both players had been sidelined for several months with serious knee injuries.

In the case of the Brazilian, who had a good performance despite the limited playing time against the Parisians, he said after the game that his team had lacked “desire” and regretted the poor start that allowed the French to take a two-goal lead in the blink of an eye.

“We lacked desire. In football we must try to do things right from the beginning. We knew how they were going to play, but we lacked desire,” he told reporters.

“Today’s result was clearly not good for us. But we must continue pushing forward. Throughout the season, we’ve seen that PSG is a very well-organized team with a high level of mutual understanding. They were fully prepared to win — both mentally and physically. Today, they completely outplayed us. We can only congratulate them,” he concluded.
