Al-Hilal resume contacts for Theo Hernandez

According to the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’, Al-Hilal will once again be knocking on Milan’s door to sign Theo Hernandez after the Club World Cup. The Saudis are offering him a 20 million euro fee.

With the Club World Cup in progress, Al-Hilal put their wallet away to focus exclusively on playing. This meant putting aside operations such as that of Theo Hernandez, for whom they will return after the elimination at the hands of Fluminense.

According to the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’, the Saudi club had arranged for the winger and his agents to meet with them at the end of the USA. The first intention was for him to arrive to play in the FIFA Club World Cup itself, but Theo’s time was different because the player wanted to join Atletico. When negotiations with the ‘Colchoneros’ fell through, the tournament was already upon us and we had to wait.

Now the way is clear. The Frenchman is not on Massimiliano Allegri’s list for the start of pre-season on Monday, with permission to discuss his departure to Al-Hilal. Theo Hernandez was an express request from Simone Inzaghi upon his arrival and the positions are very close.

The aforementioned media report that Al-Hilal have offered a salary of 20 million euros per season to Theo, who is logically convinced given that the sporting options left to him in Europe are no better. What is missing now is the agreement between the clubs, although it is not far off.

The only differences between the two sides is the format in which the transfer is to be paid. The Saudi Pro League side are offering 20 million euros plus five million euros in bonuses for goals, while Milan want the full 25 million euros, without variables. Once this obstacle has been overcome, Theo Hernandez’s move to Arabian football will be a reality.
