Rafamel Falcao leaves Millonarios. The striker, who had already threatened his departure for fiscal reasons months ago, leaves his home club for good after a season in which he made 28 appearances and scored 11 goals.
Colombian striker Radamel Falcao Garcia, 39, will not remain at Millonarios, the club he has been a fan of and played for over the past year, the Bogota club confirmed on Wednesday.
“Radamel Falcao Garcia has decided not to remain a player at the club. The illusion of all and the dream of the ‘Tigre’ was fulfilled. Thank you, Radamel, for wearing our colours and for giving everything for our shield,” Millonarios said in a statement.
The club added: “Thank you for allowing our history to have another chapter of glory where the greatest legend of Colombian football was part of our institution, Radamel ‘El Tigre’ Falcao was, is and will continue to be our ambassador.
“Dreams come true and I managed to fulfil mine, the dream I had as a child materialised and I was able to wear these colours. Today I only have words of thanks for each and every one of you, for your support, your backing and for being there every day,” said the former Atletico Madrid and Monaco striker in a message posted on Instagram.
He added: “As long as I could I left my life, my heart and soul in every game, every play, every minute…. And that’s what I take with me, I also take every word of encouragement, every chant from the stands and these colours tattooed on my soul”.
