Barcelona sporting director Deco promises “two, three or four” arrivals in the summer

FC Barcelona sporting director Deco assured in an extensive interview with the ‘BBC’ that he will not make many changes to the squad nor will he sell “the best players”.

After the madness of the last few years, it seems that this summer will be somewhat calmer at Barcelona. In an interview for the ‘BBC’, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco promised that there will be “two, three or four signings”, but that no traumatic departures or revolutions of any kind are expected. In addition, he sees the club as more stable within the parameters of the salary cap.

In this regard, the 47-year-old ex-footballer was critical of the rigidity of La Liga’s rules. “I knew it would be difficult because of the financial rules. It’s not that we have an economic problem, but the Financial Fair Play rules in Spain are more difficult than in the Premier League and other countries,” said the Portuguese, who believes that ”it’s a problem for many clubs, although you only hear about Barca because it’s a giant.”

“Barcelona is my club, I love it. I saw what was happening from the outside and I always thought that I would help the club to return it to the highest level,” Deco said of his commitment to the ‘Cules’, and defended Laporta’s management after winning “one of the biggest contracts in history” with Nike. A boost which, according to him, will bring greater peace of mind.

For this reason, Anderson Luis de Souza predicts that Barca “will not sell its best players” and that “it can grow with the growth of many of those who are already there”. Nevertheless, the club is looking for “two, three or four signings” without the need to go to the market “like maniacs”. But he is still clear about the priority: “We have been focused on renewing contracts for some time. After that we will talk about the players who can come”.
