Rumours linking Bayern Munich with a move for Eberechi Eze have been firmly dismissed by the club.
Despite the 26-year-old attacking midfielder’s impressive season at Crystal Palace, where he notably scored twice in their 2-0 FA Cup semi-final victory over Tottenham, Bayern’s transfer strategy has shifted away from signing a new number 10.
Following the unsuccessful pursuit of Florian Wirtz, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed the club’s focus is now firmly on strengthening other areas, particularly prioritising the acquisition of a high-class left winger.
This change in direction is influenced by the recent record contract extension given to Jamal Musiala, which secures the young midfielder at Bayern until 2030.
Eze’s strong performances this season, which helped Crystal Palace reach the FA Cup final against Manchester City, have inevitably attracted interest.
However, Bayern’s approach reflects a broader trend in modern football where clubs target specific tactical needs rather than signing players based solely on general position categories.
With Eberl focusing on other priorities, it seems Bayern are content to build around Musiala in the attacking midfield role, looking elsewhere to bolster their squad ahead of the next season.
