Roony Bargdhji, FC Barcelona’s new signing, spoke to the club’s official media and said it was a “dream” to be the fourth Swedish player in the club’s history. The winger also described himself as a “complete” player.
FC Barcelona announced on Monday the signing of Roony Bardghji, a left winger from Copenhagen, for two and a half million euros. The Swedish player of Kuwaiti origin is living a dream, as he expressed to the club’s official media, who shared his first impressions on Tuesday.
“I have no words to describe what I feel now. I’m very, very happy, it’s a great day for me and my family, for everyone around me. It’s a dream I had. It’s incredible to be able to be here, it’s something very big,” he said on the day his signing for the ‘Cules’ became official.
Bargdhji follows in the footsteps of Patrik Andersson, Henrik Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “I’ve had this dream since I was very young, so it’s incredible to be here. I’m not sure, but I think only three Swedish players have been here before, so it’s a big deal for me and for Sweden.
The 19-year-old, who will be signed from the reserve team, took the opportunity to define himself: “I’m a player who likes to have the ball and ask for it and I think I make my teammates play better around me. I like to count on them and have the ball with me, dribble, shoot. I would say I’m a complete player.
He arrives at an FC Barcelona side that has just won La Liga and the Copa del Rey and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League: “The season the team had last year was incredible and hopefully we can repeat that this year and go all the way in all competitions. That’s the objective.
“On an individual level, of course, I want to gradually join the team and get some minutes, of course, and just show who I am and hopefully contribute with goals and assists, and just give my best to help the team and the club achieve its objectives,” he finished.
