Atletico Madrid have confirmed on Tuesday their first signing for the 2025-26 season. Matteo Ruggeri, who signs until 2030 and arrives from Atalanta. The ‘Colchoneros’ have paid 18 million euros.
The first signing of Atletico Madrid 2025-26 is called Matteo and his surname is Ruggeri. The former Atalanta player has been in charge of opening the market for the ‘Colchoneros’ for next season.
“Atletico Madrid and Atalanta have reached an agreement for the transfer of Matteo Ruggeri, a 22-year-old Italian left-back who has signed for our club until 30th June 2030. In total, the ‘Colchoneros’ have paid 18 million euros for the transalpine.
Ruggeri is a gamble of present and future for Atletico Madrid in one of the positions that most demanded a reinforcement, even more after Reinildo has not renewed with the Madrid club.
The full-back stands out for his physical power to go up and down the pitch and for his offensive contribution, a key characteristic for Simeone to be able to alternate between a back four and a back five.
Ruggeri has been the first, but he will be the only one to be named in the coming days. Alex Baena has already said goodbye to Villarreal fans and Johnny Cardoso is on the verge of joining the Madrid side too.
