Barca set to battle Arsenal for Espanyol keeper Joan Garcia

Barcelona are ready to compete with Arsenal and several top European clubs for the signing of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who has impressed with his outstanding performances in La Liga this season.

Barcelona have shown a strong interest in Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

Garcia leads the La Liga saves charts with 138 saves and is second only to Brentford’s Mark Flekken in Europe.

The goalkeeper, who has just turned 24, is seen as a future prospect by both Barcelona and other big clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen and PSG.

Joan Garcia’s buy-out clause currently stands at 25 million euros, although it could rise to 30 million if he is called up to the Spanish national team or in the last fifteen days of the market.

Espanyol, for their part, need to close a transfer before 30 June for at least 15 million euros for financial reasons.

Barcelona’s interest is part of their search for a generational replacement for their goalkeeper, given the age difference with Ter Stegen and Szczesny. Joan Garcia has more than proved his worth this season and his future seems to be far from the Perico club.
